Overview

Vinyl Radio is a Chrome extension that lets you listen to internet radio stations from around the world without leaving your browser. This policy explains what data the extension uses and, just as importantly, what it does not do with it.

No data collection

Vinyl Radio does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data with us or with any third party. There are no analytics scripts, no tracking pixels, and no telemetry of any kind.

What the extension accesses, and why

Radio Browser API — the public radio-browser.info service is used to fetch the list of available countries and stations. Requests contain only the country name or search term you enter; no personal identifiers are sent.
Station audio streams — when you press play, your browser connects directly to the station's audio stream URL to play the audio. These connections are made to the individual radio stations, not to us, and follow the same rules as any other web request your browser makes.
Station icons — station logos are loaded either from the URL provided by radio-browser.info or, as a fallback, from DuckDuckGo's public favicon service. Only the station's domain name is used to request its icon.

What's stored, and where

Your preferences — the last country you browsed, the last station you played, the current volume, and the cached station list — are stored using Chrome's storage.local API, directly on your device. This information never leaves your browser and is not accessible to us or anyone else. You can clear it at any time by removing the extension.

Background playback

To keep audio playing while the popup is closed, Vinyl Radio uses Chrome's offscreen API to host a hidden audio document. This document exists only on your device and is used solely to maintain the audio stream — it does not send data to us.

Children's privacy

Vinyl Radio does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect information from anyone at all.

Changes to this policy

If this policy is ever updated, the revised version will be posted at this same page with an updated "Last updated" date.
